Our Staff...

William "Bub" Parton, President, has been with Gilkey Lumber since 1958. His area of expertise is in log purchasing and ensuring that Gilkey produces top quality lumber at maximum efficiency. He is quick to tell you that the employees of Gilkey Lumber are the company's most important asset. On a personal note, Bub enjoys hunting and raising champion beagles, which he shows on the local, state and national level. He and his wife Mildred live in the Gilkey Community.


Tim Parton, Vice President, oversees the forestry department, including timber resources and the log yard. He looks for high quality timber for sawing. He attended Isothermal Community College and Haywood Tech. Tim enjoys hunting and fishing. He and his wife Melanie are the proud parents of baby girl Savannah.


Mike Parton, Treasurer and General Manager, oversees the day to day operations of the mill and is heavily involved in the marketing and selling of our fine lumber. A graduate of Western Carolina University, Mike is married to Rutherford County Board of Education member Gail Parton.


Ben Parton, Sales, oversees the safety of our employees and also works in sales. If you have a need for by-products, Ben is the man to see. Ben has a Business Adm degree from Gardner Webb University


Fred Hardin, Gilkey Lumber's leading salesman, graduated from NC State with a degree in Forestry. He is a registered forester in the state of NC and has worked in the industry for 20+ years. He works with various associations and teaches various classes concerning the uses of best management practices and the value of good forestry practices.


Amy Goode, Gilkey Lumber's gatekeeper, meets and greets folks as they come in with her welcoming smile. Amy also is responsible for the daily recording of production.


Leslie Harrison, currently attending Gardner Webb University, is seeking a degree in Business Administration. Leslie works closely with the sales department, deliveries and accounts receivable.


Sherry Daniel works closely with the logging and timber departments, insuring that payments are made promptly and correctly. She's the one that pays the bills and writes the company's payroll. Sherry has been with Gilkey Lumber for 13+ years.


Redenna Poole serves as the liaison between our employees and our health insurance company. She processes new employees. You can see Redenna's hand in planning all the special events that Gilkey Lumber Co. provides for its employees each year.


James Honeycutt oversees Gilkey Lumber's log yard and is Gilkey Lumber's foremost log buyer. James also works closely with the forestry department in locating and cruising timber.


Barry Ellenburg is a NC registered forester and a graduate of NC State with a degree in Forestry. Barry has been with Gilkey Lumber for 13+ years and is a key employee in the forestry department.


Danny Ingle oversees the day to day operations in the mill. Danny designs and implements all of the new production projects. He coordinates all the mill employees and keeps everything working smoothly.
